This morning Dad quietly passed away and is now in Heaven in God's presence.
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day - and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for His appearing." 2 Tim. 4:7,8.
It's been a long week for us and we will be leaning on God's love as well as yours.
Details of a memorial service will be posted here on the blog as soon as we have that figured out.
Thank you for your support and encouragement.
The blog will stay up and we will eagerly read all your beautiful comments.

Jack will be missed in the house of Corus. His dedication to his craft made us all richer, especially at 930 Portage and Polo Park.
ReplyDeleteOur sincere sympathy for you all as you experience the sadness of having had to say good-bye to a dearly loved husband, dad and grandpa. Jack was a gifted man who loved deeply, and his life and witness touched so many others. May God grant you peace and the strength to carry on with this huge hole now in your lives.
ReplyDeleteIngrid and I extend our sincere condolences. We are reeling from the fact of Jack's passing.
ReplyDeleteHis interview with me such a short time ago and the subsequent publishing of his story could not have been more timely and relevant.

I remember lunch many years ago just down the street from CJOB. Our conversation covered lots of ground but three things stand out for me from that noon hour and a number since - your Dad and husband loved radio, loved God and loved people. Any combination of the above suited him just fine. I was privileged to benefit from his insight, his determination and his care. May God comfort you,
ReplyDeleteDavid Balzer

Marilyn, Colleen and Grant,
ReplyDeleteMy heart aches for you and I surely feel what you are going through at this time. I know that the prayers that are being said on your behalf will sustain you just as they did me when our family held vigil over Alvin a year ago. The poem "Footprints" had special meaning at that time and I know that "when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you" said the Lord. May God embrace you all during this most difficult time.
Grace Klippenstein
Our deepest sympathies to all of you. Jack was such a tremendous blessing in our lives. We SO looked forward to his visits in Cornwall. We would always talk a little bit about radio but what we all really enjoyed sharing with each other was how we saw Christ working in our lives. We'll always cherish our prayer times together - before and after we ate! Jack was such a gift from God! Lorne and Karen

I am deeply saddened by the loss of Jack Hoeppner in the world. Jack always made you feel special. From my first day in the old building at 930 Portage Avenue to visiting the station after I left the company ... he remembered everything about you. He could pick up from a conversation from months before like no time had passed. He was one-of-a-kind.
ReplyDeleteKelly Lyons.
I first met Jack at a management conference and only ran into him on occasion. But his strength of purpose was unmistakable. He spoke of his family, his work, his love of both. Our nation, our way of life, depend on individuals like Jack. Leading by example, steadfast, building something greater than himself for the benefit of others. Invested in family and friends, committed to his ideals. He can now look out for all of us.
ReplyDeletePlease accept my heartfelt condolences for your loss. Kaps
ReplyDeleteMy deepest condolences. Jack was a great man who lead by example. I will always remember when he helped me move out to Manitoba from Alberta...16 years ago now. We often spoke of radio and the industry and you always knew where he got his strength - God and family. A man I will always greatly admire.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family. Jack was an exceptional man and was loved and respected by all who crossed paths with him. No matter the challange, he always had a smile and a story to tell. He'll be missed.

ReplyDeleteJack will be missed, but not ever forgotten.
Colleen, thanks for keeping us all informed during trying times. It's probably the way Jack would have wanted it, as he was in broadcasting with CJOB (the Information Station)!

I've never met Jack, but I know Grant, and I know that he is a real man of God that I look up to. If Jack raised him to be the man he is, then he has to be someone who walked with God closely. Praise God that we have redemption through Jesus. There is so much hope, and its incredible, that even though it can feel like a loss, we can actually rejoice at this moment! Praise God!

What a loss to earth & gain for heaven! Jack & Michael are catching up now! I am so blessed to have known Jack. As the comments come pouring in from all over the world, it is remarkable what an influence Jack had on so many lives. Truly an inspiration to us all. An example of a Godly husband, father, grandfather & friend. He has heard God's "Well done" & may that comfort your hearts. Continuing to lift you up before our Heavenly Father. I know Jack would say in the words of Scripture, "To me to live is Christ, & to die is gain."

I recall asking what Jack did on one of his rare vacations: "We built a radio station in the jungle in Central America..." He started. The most giving, caring and compassionate men of our time. We spent time trying to choose the correct words and then decided we would just speak from the heart.
ReplyDeleteJack's passing is a tremendous loss of a close broadcast associate, a good friend and a class individual whom we loved.
Both our and Jack's family hailed from southern Manitoba so in any new conversation with him, Jack always opened with some Plautdietsch to test our knowledge of the local language.
After the laughs, cheer and greetings it was always down to business amd when time permitted, the sharing of family news and stories.
Jack would always lead us in prayer prior to any meals we shared with him and Marilyn, showing his true love of the Lord and his appreciation for all that we have been given.
Jack, we will truly miss you and we thank you for having enriched out lives by your example.
Our sincere condolences are expressed to Marilyn, Grant Colleen and family.

As a neighbour of Jack and Marilyn they were always approachable. His contribution to our home will always be remembered. Him and I had a shared responsibility here. I was impressed with his hands on, get things done attitude, very admirable. He did not let the little stuff get to him. It gave us some solace that we could share that.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jack your contribution will not be forgotten.

Terry & I have many fond memories of the numerous times Jack & Marilyn hosted the College & Careers in their home. We remember their open hearts, encouraging words and the firm and gentle reminders "you don't always have to meet just for bible study. Why don't you guys go out as a group and have some fun too." We appreciated Jack's focus and flexibility as he modeled wisdom, patience and God's love to us young adults at that time. Our prayers are with you Marilyn.

Jack sat across the aisle from me in high school and I knew him in Sunday school and young people’s. I recall his early skills as a teen engineer at street meetings in Altona. Saturday nights his dad would preach from a corner directly across from the old hotel. While my sisters and I sang gospel songs into the night, I was reassured by the presence of Jack and his equipment on a truck behind us, transmitting the service even beyond the reaches of Main Street in Altona . . . I was shocked and deeply saddened to hear of Jack’s sudden passing. I see from the entries in this blog that the qualities evident in his youth grew and came to maturity in his later years. From my perspective now, though it may sound cliche, it seems to me that Jack was like an arrrow flying across the years, straight and true to the mark. Well done, my friend, and a fond farewell. . . My sincere sympathy to Marilyn and family, to Jack’s mother, and to his sisters Louella and Ruth.

Jack's testimony continues even now. Truly a man of God in these times. May God bless you all.

ReplyDeleteTo Marilyn & Family, may God give you the strength to get through this most difficult period! Jack no doubt is in good hands just like he was when he was here amongst us. I just heard the news last night and found your blog. What a great tribute you've put together here.
ReplyDeleteAs others have shared similarly, Jack made me feel welcome at CJOB right from the start. He always took time to chat, whether about work, faith or family. Anyone can talk, but with Jack you knew he really cared.
